Problem:

This small and delicate part is used in an aircraft lighting application. The customer needed a clean part overall, but also shiny enough to improve reflectivity on the critical surfaces.

Brite-Ultracleaning

Solution:

Electropolishing removed the outer layer of metal, considerably brightening the parabolic reflector areas. The smoother surface helps to create a more stable, concentrated beam from the reflective surface. The entire part was clean and ready for final assembly.


Note to engineer: On applications requiring highly reflective or optically flat surfaces, a combination of abrasive polishing and electropolishing can achieve very low Ra values.
